Poll: Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan maintains slim lead in crucial North Carolina race

Sen. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) is still favored to hold on and win re-election this November, as a new poll shows her with a slim three-point lead heading into the home stretch.
Hagan leads GOP challenger Thom Tillis 46 percent to 43 percent, according to the latest PPP survey released Monday. Libertarian candidate Sean Haugh, who could play the role of spoiler, sits at five percent.
Though Hagan's lead is relatively small, it has held consistently for several months, suggesting Tillis will need a big boost in the next few days to score an upset and inch the GOP closer to Senate control. The latest New York Times forecast gives Hagan an 80 percent chance of holding her seat.
