Ben Affleck will do a lot of things for a role — but wearing a Yankees cap isn't one of them.
Affleck told The New York Times that "the only fight" he had on the Gone Girl set with director David Fincher was over a baseball cap. But according to Affleck, the argument was "a legitimate fight."
In one scene in the film, Nick Dunne, Affleck's character, "tries to evade recognition by donning a baseball hat" at an airport, according to the Times. Fincher wanted Dunne to wear a Yankees cap, but Affleck, a Red Sox fan, "would have none of it."

"I said, 'David, I love you, I would do anything for you,'" Affleck told the Times. "'But I will not wear a Yankees hat. I just can't. I can't wear it, because it's going to become a thing, David. I will never hear the end of it. I can't do it.' And I couldn't put it on my head."
In the end, Fincher and Affleck reached a compromise, and Affleck wore a Mets hat during the scene.
