Happy National Coffee Day. Don't forget to get your free cup of java.
Do you care why Monday is National Coffee Day? Probably not, and yes, it has to do with marketing. But that doesn't mean it's all bad. Depending on your tastes and the proximity of various coffee shops, you can probably get a free cup of coffee today. At McDonald's, it turns out, you could have been getting a free small cup of coffee for two weeks during breakfast hours, and today is the last day to take the Golden Arches up on its offer.
Dunkin' Donuts wants you to try its new dark roast, and it will give you a free medium cup today. Krispy Kreme has a similar offer — free 12 oz. regular coffee — but will sell you a fancy coffee drink for 99 cents. Tim Hortons will sell you a 12 oz. cup of joe for $1. And Starbucks will generously give you a free sample of coffee, until noon or your store runs out, whichever comes first. Peet's is also offering samples plus 2-for-1 drinks and discount beans. Time has a list of regional coffee shops, too, so if there's a Kangaroo Express, Lamar’s Donuts, Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Co., or Wawa near you, head over and see what's on offer.
