Three Frenchmen have been arrested for illegally hunting hedgehogs, which they allegedly planned to eat.
France's Animal Protection Society reports that it filed a lawsuit against the men last month. The society was contacted by French police, who arrested several men in a forest outside Paris while they were collecting hedgehogs in plastic bags.
Tamara Guelton, an employee at the Animal Protection Society, told The Associated Press that some people use the hedgehogs to make hedgehog soup. However, hedgehog hunting is illegal in France and is punishable by up to six months in prison.
