Car bomb kills 11 in Baghdad

A car bombing in eastern Baghdad killed at least 11 people Tuesday morning.

The explosion occurred in a Shiite area of the New Baghdad district, the The Associated Press reports. In addition to those killed, 31 people were wounded.

The attack comes as Iraq's Shiite government fights Sunni militants in the west and the north. Though the source of the attack is unknown, AP says the bombing "bore the hallmarks of al-Qaeda-inspired militants." Meanwhile, ISIS has claimed responsibility for Monday's car bombing, which killed at least 15 people, in an online statement. --Meghan DeMaria
