For the fifth consecutive year, Modern Family took home the Best Comedy Series Emmy Award.
Executive producer and co-creator Steven Levitan shared a personal anecdote about his daughter that sounded suspiciously like something Lily would say — after telling her dad she was excited to know what he did for a living, she told her mother, "It's a wonder we have a roof over our heads" — and then started thanking people.
"It's a wonder we get to do this for a living," he said. "That we get to be the ones up here when there are so many deserving shows, that we get to touch so many people's lives, and we get to work with so many extraordinary people like this every single day. Modern Family has been a big, beautiful dream for the last five years and we thank you for not waking us up."
