The British Embassy is sorry for joking about that whole burning down Washington thing

Sunday marked the bicentennial of the day the British occupied and burned down Washington during the War of 1812, and the British Embassy marked the occasion, oddly, with a jocular tweet and some sparklers. Within a couple of hours, someone must have reconsidered the wisdom of making light of such a dark moment and offered a swift apology.
