Donald Sterling is officially out as Clippers owner
Donald Sterling is out of the NBA for good following the completion of the sale of his old team, the Los Angeles Clippers, to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, the NBA announced Tuesday in a statement. The sale's finalization comes four months after the NBA banned Sterling for life and began the process of prying away his team after he was heard on leaked audio recordings disparaging minorities.
Ballmer had submitted a huge $2 billion bid to buy the Clippers back in May, prompting Sterling to launch an unsuccessful legal barrage to keep control of the franchise. An appeals court last week nixed his latest attempt, saying, "There is nothing for this court to review."
