Tripoli's police chief found dead in Libya
Tripoli's police chief, Col. Mohammed Sweissi, was found dead on Tuesday, and Libya's Interior Ministry says he was murdered.
A statement from the ministry reported that Sweissi was attacked by masked gunmen after a meeting in Tajoura, Libya. In addition to his death, two of Sweissi's colleagues were abducted.
Rami Kaal, a spokesperson for the ministry, told the Associated Press that Sweissi had "supported the battle against Islamist militias" before his death. Militias from the city of Misrata, along with Islamist allies, and the town of Zintan are currently fighting to control Tripoli's airport.
