Israel extends Gaza cease-fire by four hours; may consider additional time

Israel has agreed to extend for an additional four hours a 12-hour cease-fire with Hamas that began this morning, reports The Associated Press.
Israeli cabinet members are meeting later today, and they may be open to adding even more time to the cease-fire, according to Cabinet Minister Yuval Steinitz. A Hamas spokesman said that while the group was also open to another extension, "it does not mean that we retreat from our known demands."
Today's lull in the is the longest since July 8, when the latest round of fighting between Israel and Hamas began.
