Unidentified 9/11 remains returned to site in somber ceremony

In a quiet ceremony watched by few bystanders, the unidentified remains of those killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York City’s World Trade Center returned to the site today.
Officials plan to store the remains in the same building that will house the National September 11 Memorial Museum, opening later this month. While emergency personnel and construction workers paused to pay their respects as the procession passed by, some family members of 9/11 victims protested the move, saying the remains should be stored above ground, in a different location.
