In the relentless quest to repackage everything you vaguely remember from your childhood as a blockbuster franchise, Hollywood has finally turned to yet another children's franchise: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, which ran on Fox from 1993 to 1996 (and has since spawned more than a dozen convoluted spin-offs).

Lionsgate will partner with Saban Entertainment, who owns the rights to the Power Rangers franchise, to produce "the first of what it hopes will be many live action feature films," because how could you possibly tell a story this multi-layered in a single movie? There's currently no news on the film's director, writer, or cast — but as long as they get that awesome theme song back, who cares? --Scott Meslow
