Injured Anaheim police dog Bruno heads home

After more than a month of medical treatments, Anaheim police dog Bruno raced out of Yorba Regional Animal Hospital this afternoon with partner Officer R.J. Young. He is the happiest:

A gunman shot Bruno in an alleyway on March 20 during a standoff with officers; the shot shattered the dog's jaw and damaged his lung. After several surgeries followed by weeks of recovery, Bruno was ready to head home with Officer Young, who said he'd be able to keep Bruno thanks to a series of fundraisers that offset the medical costs, reported the Los Angeles Times.

While Bruno's career with the Anaheim police department is over, he gets to remain with Young; it looks like both parties are plenty happy with that arrangement. --Sarah Eberspacher
