HBO Go crashes during True Detective finale and everyone loses their minds

If the producers behind True Detective were looking for a second season storyline, they can start with the disappearance of HBO Go. Eager fans looking to watch the season finale of the highly anticipated show last night were treated to a spinning wheel, as the network's servers couldn't keep up with demand and caused the streaming service to crash.
HBO Go explained on Twitter that it's your fault for the site's downtime. "Due to overwhelmingly popular demand for #TrueDetective, we've been made aware of an issue affecting some users. Please try again soon," it said late Sunday. Users reported seeing a "fatal error" message and couldn't navigate the site. It's unclear how many people were affected, but those who were bothered by it really let people know about it on Twitter.
HBO hasn't yet commented on what caused the outage beyond the initial tweet.
