Knife-wielding men kill at least 28 people at Chinese train station

Chinese authorities said an "organized, premeditated violent terrorist attack" left at least 28 people dead Saturday night at Kunming Railway Station. State-run media said authorities shot the knife-wielding assailants, but not before they killed dozens of people and injured 109 more.

While stabbings are not uncommon in China, this incident was rare in its scope and apparent organization. The attack in Kunming, which is the capital of Yunnan province, comes just a few days before two important political conferences are set to take place in the city.
