Only in America: Cheating for the children
A mother hacks into a school's computer system to change her childrens' grades — and more in our collection of strange revelations about the nation

A Pennsylvania mom faces six third-degree felony charges for hacking into the computer system of the Northwestern Lehigh School District and changing the grades of her two children. Catherine Venusto, a former administrative office secretary for the district, allegedly changed her daughter's failing grade to a medical exemption, and later changed one of her son's grades from 98 to 99 (one measly percentage point!). While Venusto believes her actions were merely unethical and not illegal, she faces up to 42 years in prison and a $90,000 fine if convicted.
