White House to host summit on preventing violent extremism

The Obama administration announced Sunday that it would host an international summit next month to discuss ways to curtail violent extremism around the world.

To be held Feb. 18, the summit will include representatives from fellow nations who are "actively implementing programs to prevent violent extremism and foreign terrorist fighter recruitment," the White House said in a statement. The conference became more imperative following recent terror attacks in Paris, Sydney, and Ottawa, Canada, the statement said.
