French officials quietly bury brothers who carried out Charlie Hebdo attack

French authorities convinced the mayors of two cities to allow the secret burials of Said and Cherif Kouachi on Saturday, The Associated Press reports.

The two brothers attacked the offices of satirical news magazine Charlie Hebdo last week, killing 12 people and sparking three days of terror in France. Authorities are trying to preemptively halt any civil unrest — French officials banned an anti-Islamist demonstration in Paris, while Belgian authorities deployed troops to guard possible terrorism targets.
