Yemen's president, cabinet resign under pressure from Shiite rebels, officials say

Two days after Shiite Houthi rebels overtook the presidential palace and held Yemen's President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi captive at his residence, Yemeni officials say Hadi and his cabinet have resigned. Hadi had previously said he reached a deal with the rebels to give them more influence in the government — but military officials close to the president say that he resigned after the Houthis pressured him to give a speech urging Yemenis to stay calm.
