The most expensive painting in the world is now reportedly Paul Gauguin's Nafea Faa Ipoipo (When Will You Marry?), The New York Times reports.
European and American art experts said the 1892 oil painting, which sold for around $300 million, fetched the highest price ever for an artwork, although the seller, Rudolf Staechelin, would neither confirm nor deny the exact price. Also unknown is the buyer — while two dealers reported that the new owner is Qatari, the country's Qatar Museums declined to comment.
