On Monday, China executed Liu Han, a former mining tycoon who was once the 230th richest person in China.
Liu underwent a high-profile trial last year, during which he was accused of murder and running what Chinese state media called a "mafia-style" gang. He was also connected to the eldest son of Zhou Yongkang, a retired domestic security chief who was also targeted in a high-profile corruption investigation.
Four other people, including Liu's younger brother, were also executed on Monday.
