Peter Liang, a New York City police officer who was charged with manslaughter, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday in the death of Akai Gurley.

Liang was charged with manslaughter and official misconduct in relation to Gurley's accidental shooting in November. Gurley was shot in a stairwell of the Louis Pink Houses, a public housing complex in Brooklyn. Liang and his partner were patrolling the complex, and police said he accidentally fired a shot, which hit Gurley.
