Best Actor winner Eddie Redmayne will email his thanks to Stephen Hawking
After winning the Best Actor Oscar for his performance as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, Eddie Redmayne told the press that he would soon be sending an email to Hawking and his family, thanking them for his award.
"They have been so kind to us throughout the process," he said. "Our responsibility to tell their story truthfully and authentically, we felt it." Redmayne's award was presented by Cate Blanchett, and Redmayne said he felt "extraordinary euphoria" seeing his former co-star from Elizabeth: The Golden Age. "I was recovering from that excitement of just seeing her, and then I was trying to bury this frenzy of nerves," he said.
Redmayne won't be able to celebrate for too long, as he's flying back to the set of his new film The Danish Girl on Monday, but he's just thrilled to have another part. "[I've] always had to fight for jobs," he said. "Just retaining employment will keep me very happy."
