Thomas Jackson, the embattled police chief of Ferguson, Missouri, resigned on Wednesday amid the fallout from a scathing Justice Department report detailing the department's rampant racial bias against African Americans.

Launched following the fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager, Michael Brown, the report found that Ferguson's police routinely violated the constitutional rights of blacks. Ferguson's city manager, John Shaw, agreed to resign on Tuesday, one day after a local judge stepped down. Ferguson also fired one police officer and suspended two more following the release of the DOJ's report.
