On Tuesday, an airline operated by Lufthansa's Germanwings budget carrier crashed in southern France en route from Barcenlona to Dusseldorf. The Airbus A320 was carrying 148 people, and "the conditions of the accident, which have not yet been clarified, lead us to think there are no survivors," said French President Francois Hollande. "The accident happened in a zone that is particularly hard to access."
The plane reportedly went down in Meolans-Revels, in a remote area of the French Alps foothills, about 65 miles north of Nice. Search-and-rescue personnel are traveling to the site.
