Sandy Hook shooter's Connecticut home has been demolished

Newtown officials announced Tuesday that Adam Lanza's Connecticut home has been demolished. The two-acre lot will remain an open space.
Lanza shot 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary school on Dec. 14, 2012, after killing his mother inside the suburban home. Lanza proceeded to commit suicide.
Neighbors had apparently requested that the building be demolished, saying it was "a constant reminder of the tragedy," The Associated Press reports. Before the demolition, the house had stood vacant since the shooting.
