Yemeni president abandons second stronghold amid rebel attacks

Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi on Wednesday fled from his home in the city of Aden as Houthi militia fighters closed in on the compound, according to The Associated Press. Earlier Wednesday, rebel forces loyal to former Yemeni leader Ali Abdullah Saleh seized control of an air base 35 miles from Aden and, backed by fighter jets, began advancing toward the city. In February, the embattled Hadi fled from the capital Sanaa to Aden after rebels took control of the city and placed him under house arrest.
