Man charged in N.C. triple homicide of Muslims could face death penalty
A judge on Monday ruled that Craig Stephen Hicks, the North Carolina man accused of killing three Muslim students in February, can face the death penalty after prosecutors presented adequate evidence to proceed with the case. The 46-year-old Hicks, who is charged with three counts of first-degree murder, confessed to the crimes and was arrested in possession of the handgun used in the killings, according to prosecutors. Police suggested a parking dispute led to the triple homicide, though the victims' families claimed the attack was a hate crime.
