A 2-year-old boy was treated for minor injuries on Saturday after he fell into a cheetah exhibit at the zoo in Cleveland.
The toddler was being dangled over the pit by his mother when he fell 10 feet, The Associated Press reports. The boy was rescued by his parents, who leapt down and scooped him up. The cheetahs never approached the trio.
"While this incident is disturbing to everyone, we are glad injuries were not any more severe," Chris Kuhar, executive director of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, said in a statement. Kuhar also said that on Monday, Cleveland Metroparks plans to seek charges of child endangerment against the mother.
