An Amtrak train derailed in the Frankford section of Philadelphia Tuesday night, injuring at least 50 people.
Train 188 was traveling from Washington, D.C., to New York City when the incident occurred, 6ABC reports. Officials told NBC New York about 240 people were on board, and eight to 10 cars derailed. Officials did not release any information on the conditions of those injured.
UPDATE: Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter said that at least five people were killed, and authorities do not know what caused the accident. "It is an absolute, disastrous mess," he said. "Never seen anything like this in my life." Amtrak has suspended service between New York City and Philadelphia, and investigators from the Federal Railroad Administration have been dispatched to the scene.
