Chris Christie: 'I wasn't ready to be president 4 years ago'

In an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper that aired Wednesday, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said that he wasn't ready to run for president four years ago, but he has the support of his family for a potential 2016 campaign.
"I get lots of people who come to us and say, oh, you should have done it four years ago. And I tell you, one thing I know for sure, I wasn't ready to be president four years ago," Christie said. "And so the worst thing wasn't not running; it was if I had run and won already."
Christie went on to say that his wife, Mary Pat, has taken a "hiatus" from her job at investment firm Angelo, Gordon & Co. He also said his son Andrew is "very positive and enthusiastic" about a potential 2016 campaign.

Mary Pat Christie, who accompanied Chris Christie at the interview, did admit that Bridgegate has affected Christie's supporters, saying that it was "disappointing" to the couple that "the enthusiasm isn't as crazy as it was" before the scandal.
