The fate of convicted Boston Marathon bomber Dzokhar Tsarnaev is now in the hands of the jury as the prosecution and defense completed their closing arguments Wednesday. The jurors, who had previously found Tsarnaev guilty of 30 counts relating to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, will now decide whether to sentence him to death by lethal injection or life in prison without parole.

While the jury needs a simple majority to sentence Tsarnaev to life in prison without parole, a death-penalty sentence must be unanimous— though the jury would only need to agree Tsarnaev deserves death for just one of the 17 counts that carry the penalty.
