The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday voted 14-1 in favor of boosting the city's minimum wage to $15 per hour, making it the largest municipality in the nation to do so.

The measure would raise L.A.'s wage floor to $10.50 in July 2016, followed by incremental raises each year until 2020. The city's attorney must still draft an ordinance laying out the plan before the council can hold another vote later this year to make it law.
