Prolific author James Patterson has already conquered the adult suspense/thriller genre; The Associated Press reports his books have sold more than 300 million copies worldwide. Now, Patterson is aiming to crack the preferences of a more fickle audience: children.

While the author probably best known for his adult "Alex Cross" character has dabbled in children's stories already, Patterson is now launching "jimmy patterson," a children's books imprint for Little Brown & Company. The imprint will offer works both by Patterson and other authors, and the goal of "jimmy patterson" is to inspire children to say, "Please give me another book," according to a statement from Little, Brown. Coincidentally, that request aligns perfectly with the one Patterson's publishers make of him several times a year.
