NATO plans to expand its rapid response force to more than twice its current size, Agence France-Presse reports. The NRF, which is currently 13,000-strong, would grow to 30,000 or 40,000.

NATO head Jens Stoltenberg believes that beefing up the NRF will "speed up our decision-making process," which the Ukraine crisis revealed as perhaps not fast enough. Defense ministers will approve plans for the increase this week during their meeting in Brussels on June 24-26.
