The British government updated its travel warning for tourists in Tunisia, advising that any nationals who are currently in the country leave immediately, The Associated Press reports. According to the Foreign Office's report, "the intelligence and threat picture has developed considerably, reinforcing our view that a further terrorist attack is highly likely."

In June, a gunman killed 38 foreigners and injured 39 others in a beachside terrorist attack. On July 4, Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi declared a state of emergency in Tunisia.
