The band Survivor is not pleased that 'Eye of the Tiger' was played at Kim Davis rally
Frankie Sullivan of the band Survivor made it clear Tuesday night that he is not a supporter of Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
After Davis was released from jail earlier on Tuesday, a rally was held in her honor, and Survivor's song "Eye of the Tiger" blasted in the background as she made her entrance alongside Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. On Facebook, Sullivan wrote, "NO! We did not grant Kim Davis any rights to use 'My Tune - The Eye Of The Tiger.' I would not grant her the rights to use Charmin! C'mom [sic] Mike, you are not The Donald but you can do better than that."
Featured on the Rocky II soundtrack, "Eye of the Tiger" was a huge hit for the band in 1982. In 2012, Variety reports, Sullivan filed suit against Newt Gingrich's presidential campaign for using the song, and the case was settled in court later that year.
