Hillary Clinton has the support of half of Democrats in the first debate state

Hillary Clinton is the clear frontrunner among Democrats in Nevada, the state hosting the first Democratic debate Tuesday. A new CNN/ORC International poll reveals that Clinton has the support of 50 percent of likely Democratic caucus-goers in Nevada, leading runner-up Bernie Sanders by 16 points, at 34 percent. In third is Vice President Joe Biden — who has yet to announce if he will run — with 12 percent.

Nevada isn't the only state where Clinton has a healthy lead, either, according to the poll results. The former secretary of state also leads in South Carolina with the support of 49 percent of primary voters. Sanders lags behind by 25 points, with 24 percent support.

If Biden decides not to run, Clinton's support could grow even larger in the two states. The Hill reports that "if Biden does not enter the race, Clinton's leads over Sanders would grow to 50 points in South Carolina and 22 points in Nevada."
