The way to a people's peaceful coexistence is through their stomachs, at least according to a restaurant near Netanya, Israel. Since October 13, the manager of Hummus Bar in Kfar Vitkin has offered 50 percent off each plate at a table where Arabs and Jews are sitting together, The Times of Israel reports.
"Scared of Arabs? Scared of Jews? By us we don't have Arabs! But we also don't have Jews... by us we've got human beings! And real excellent Arab hummus! And great Jewish falafel! And a free refill for every serving of hummus, whether you're Arab, Jewish, Christian, Indian, etc.," the restaurant's Facebook post advertises in Hebrew.
Hummus Bar's kitchen is kosher, and therefore also halal, so there's no reason for Jews and Muslims not to sit down together other than will, The Times of Israel adds. Restaurant manager Kobi Tzafrir said he's seen a trend in Arabs and Jews dining side by side since his promotion began. "If there's anything that can bring together these peoples, it's hummus," Tzafrir confirmed.
