With the hottest September ever just recorded, 2015 is well on its way to being the warmest year ever. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration revealed that not only was this September the warmest in its records over the last 136 years, it "was warmer than average by a bigger margin than any of the 1,629 months in the records," which run all the way back to January 1880, Climate Central reports.

And that's just another drop in the bucket for the year. "Even more noteworthy is that six of the 10 highest temperature departures from average have occurred in 2015," climate scientist Jessica Blunden told Climate Central. To date, 2015 has already surpassed the 20th century average by 1.53 degrees Fahrenheit.
