Ricky Gervais, Mel Gibson win for Most Awkward Moment of the Golden Globes
The most cringe-inducing part of the 2016 Golden Globes took place during the painful moments that host Ricky Gervais and Mel Gibson spent onstage together, midway through the show.
Gervais explained that a few years ago, he made fun of Gibson and some of the things he said while drinking, but added that he was ready to be nice and pay him a compliment. "I'd rather have a drink with him in his hotel room tonight than Bill Cosby," Gervais announced.
Gibson's response? "I love seeing Ricky once every three years," he said. "It reminds me to get a colonoscopy." Things went downhill from there, culminating in Gervais making a comment that the censors had to bleep out (it was: "What the f— does sugart—s mean, anyway?").
