Iranian President Hassan Rouhani says the nuclear deal 'opens a new gate'
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani celebrated the United Nations' Saturday announcement that his country had complied with the international nuclear deal, which in turn triggered global powers to begin lifting economic sanctions:
Rouhani expanded on his comments in a speech to parliament Sunday, The Wall Street Journal reports.
The deal "opens a new gate and prepares a new ground which should be employed to bring prosperity and progress to the country," he said. "Iran assigned the best of its diplomats to confront the big powers and then supported them until ultimate victory and success."
