The growing wildfire in Fort McMurray, Alberta, has now forced some 8,000 workers at oil camps north of the city to leave the facilities. The workers were ordered to evacuate late Monday after the mandatory evacuation zone was extended 30 miles north of the city. The move further delays the restart of oil production, which is typically at least one million barrels a day.

The town of Fort McMurray has been under an evacuation order since May 3, putting the town's 80,000 residents out of their homes. The fire has destroyed more than 2,400 structures and authorities are still working to bring it under control.
