Kevin Durant to sign with the Warriors
Kevin Durant announced Monday on The Players' Tribune he will sign with the Golden State Warriors.
The 27-year-old former MVP and four-time NBA scoring champion was the top free agent on the market, and held meetings with the Thunder, Warriors, Clippers, Celtics, Spurs, and Heat, Sports Illustrated reports. League sources told ESPN's Marc Stein that Durant will sign a two-year, $54.3 million deal with a player option in the second year.
Durant has played his entire nine-year career with Oklahoma City, and wrote on The Players' Tribune that the "primary mandate I had for myself in making this decision was to have it based on the potential for my growth as a player — as that has always steered me in the right direction. But I am also at a point in my life where it is of equal important to find an opportunity that encourages my evolution as a man: moving out of my comfort zone to a new city and community which offers the greatest potential for my contribution and personal growth."
