GOP congressman inexplicably brings up Hamilton during Clinton email hearing
The House GOP Oversight Committee hearing Thursday briefly went off the rails when Rep. John Mica (R-Fla.) seemingly forgot if the topic at hand was Hillary Clinton's private email server, or Lin-Manuel Miranda's bombshell historical hip-hopera. "Have you seen the Broadway production, Hamilton?" Mica asked FBI Director James Comey, entirely stone-faced. Comey responded that he hasn't yet seen it but he's "hoping to," though he had to fight to keep a straight face while answering.
To make the Hamilton reference that much stranger, Mica didn't provide a direct explanation for how this pertained to the hearing's topic, though the implication was that he was referring to the timing of the FBI's announcement Tuesday. Check it out — and prepare to be baffled. Becca Stanek
