She doesn't have any skeletons in her closet, she pays her taxes, and she can find Aleppo on a map, making Hello Kitty the presidential candidate everyone can rally around.

In celebration of the U.S. presidential race, Sanrio announced that Hello Kitty is running for president under the banner of the Friendship Party. Her running mate is Chococat, making this the first all-feline ticket. Tied to this historic run, Sanrio is offering special edition merchandise for a limited time, including a tote bag, buttons, and a hat, available in select stores and on the Sanrio website. Hello Kitty will also hit the campaign trail, a.k.a. visit certain Sanrio stores in the United States, and special sugar cookies shaped like the icon wearing a red, white, and blue top hat will be available at the Hello Kitty Pop-Up Cafe and Hello Kitty Cafe Truck. So go ahead, vote Hello Kitty — it won't be the strangest thing to happen this election.
