President-elect Donald Trump responded on Twitter Saturday morning to reports that Vice President-elect Mike Pence was booed while attending a performance of Hamilton on Broadway Friday night. He labeled the incident harassment and, apparently borrowing language from the movement for political correctness his campaign opposed, said the theater should always be a safe space.

Brandon Victor Dixon, the cast member who spoke directly to Pence on stage at the end of the play, quickly pushed back against Trump's characterization of the encounter with a tweet of his own.

"I saw [Pence] enjoying [Hamilton] with whoever he was with, and I hope he remembers us," Dixon said in comments to Broadway.com. "I truly believe we had an effect," he added. "I hope he thinks of us every time he has to deal with an issue or talk about a bill or present anything."
