Trump visits Scalise, says he's 'in very tough shape'

On Wednesday night, President Trump and first lady Melania Trump visited Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) in the hospital, where he remains in critical condition after being shot Wednesday morning while practicing for the congressional baseball game.
"Just left hospital," Trump tweeted following the visit. "Rep. Steve Scalise, one of the truly great people, is in very tough shape — but he is a real fighter. Pray for Steve!" Earlier in the day, Trump called Scalise a "true friend and patriot." The MedStar Washington Hospital Center released a statement Wednesday night about Scalise's condition, saying he was still critical and will require additional surgeries. He was shot in the hip, and the bullet went through his pelvis, injuring several organs and causing severe bleeding.
