Rep. Lou Barletta (R-Pa.) defeated state Rep. Jim Christiana Tuesday in Pennsylvania's Republican Senate primary, winning the right to face incumbent Sen. Bob Casey (D) in November.

Barletta, the former mayor of Hazleton, has represented Pennsylvania's 11th congressional district since 2011, and had the support of President Trump. He's going into the general election as the underdog in a state that Trump won in 2016. Casey was first elected in 2006, and his late father was the governor of Pennsylvania in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
