South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster wins runoff election

On Tuesday night, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster (R) won the GOP nomination for governor, defeating businessman John Warren.
With 84 percent of precincts reporting, McMaster has 54 percent of the vote, compared to Warren with 46 percent. McMaster, a former South Carolina Republican Party chairman, took office last year after Nikki Haley became U.N. ambassador.
President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence did a big push for him ahead of Tuesday's election, with Trump coming to South Carolina for a rally Monday night and Pence visiting over the weekend. McMaster will face Democratic state Rep. James Smith in the November election.
